Day 3 - Zurich

Just had breakfast at the hotel and we are soon to be off to the city again. (Zurich).

Grossmunster church was the first stop. We climbed the steep tower steps to the observation deck.

We walked and walked and walked and climbed today.

Day 2 Zurich at Night

We decided to take the train into the city. Very smooth, very clean. It was sprinkling rain and then turned into moderate rain as we walked further from the train station.  We had a traditional brautwurst and bun at the train station and it was excellent. After a few miles of wandering around looking at shops and sights, we found a quaint restaurant for a late dinner. One the train ride back, the conductor fined us 95 euros for not having the correct tickets. Oh well, we are not in jail.

Day 2 Arrival in Zurich

After a non eventful flight from PHL, we are in Zurich.  Only one open seat in business and Sherri decided to not split our seats, so coach it was for both of us.  8+ hours in a coach seat royally sucks!! Add to the fact of the young girl that kept kicking the back of my seat, I got very little sleep on that flight.  Our hotel room won't be ready for a few hours, so we walked the mall attached to the airport. ... I'm tired

Finally in our room and got a couple hours of much needed sleep. Added a view of the airport from our room.

"Much Traveled Ted" came out of retirement and is enjoying his 50th birthday with me.  Getting his German on. 

Interesting grocery shopping  concept. You scan everything you buy while placing it in a bag in the  shopping cart. At checkout you just pay! Efficient 

Day 1

And our travel adventure has begun.

6AM Flight departure to PHL.

4:20 AM Check in because of the international flight.

4 AM Arrival at LAX so Sherri can park in the employee lot and take the bus back to the terminal.

We got a quick nap and left the house at 3:30 AM.
I broke my own travel rule #1 of NEVER EVER, EVER check your luggage and checked our bags in instead of carry on. AA please dont let us down.

I'm past that point of "what did I forget?" and will just deal with it if I forgot something.

PS Sherri drove to the airport .. why I dont know...

Boarding starts in 15 mins and Sherri isn't even in the terminal yet.

Vacation plan

This is a Celebration of Life Vacation

Most times we hear "Celebration of Life" when someone has passed away. In this case, Sherri beat cancer and we're celebrating life while we are still on Earth. It's also to Celebrate her 50th birthday.

The travel plan:

Day 3 Zurich to Basel
Day 4 Breisach, Germany
Day 5 Strasbourg, France
Day 6 Heidelberg, Germany
Day 7 Rudesheim-Rhine, Gorge-Koblenz
Day 8 Cologne
Days 9-12 Amsterdam, Holland
